Keepin' My Feet Fresh
My shoe preferences have definitely evolved over the past years, from my middle school obsession with converses to my high school love for heels. Out of all the shoes that i've had the pleasure of buying though, i never considered having a pair of sneakers in my closet.
Sneakers? No Thank YOu...
I never thought of having sneakers as a staple fashion piece in my closet. Like, I just didn't. I didn't think they fit my fashion aesthetic at all. They just were't at the top of my Christmas list. Even when everyone was losing their minds over the next new, impressive, sneaker fashion, I was just confused on why everyone was obsessed with them. I just didn't get it, I mean yeah I had a pair of Nikes, but those were only for workout purposes. Unless I was high-kicking on a practice field for drill team, or running, you probs wouldn't see me with them on. That's what I thought sneakers were for, working out. My perception of that changed though whenever I went to Paris.
Okay...these are cool
Okay, honestly my perception changed sophomore year of college, the year before I went to Paris. It happened because of Baylor Dance company actually. We usually get new team shoes every year, and that year we got these super cool, all white, high top sneakers. They were pretty dope, but we weren't able to wear them outside of practice until after the competition season was over. After the season was over though, I wore those shoes all the time. I loved them, and this is coming from a girl who preferred flats or cute Keds for her daily shoe needs. I was never into the more bulky shoes until these. I honestly wore them so much that they are a little worn out now. I mean they went with everything (well almost everything), and were so comfortable!
Whenever I was packing to go to Paris, I wanted to take those shoes, but I didn't for two reasons. 1. They were way to bulky to fit into my smaller suitcase and, 2. I didn't think they were "fashionable" enough for Paris, but I was so wrong about that.
I Need these in my life
I don't know if you know this, but Adidas are making a huge comeback in the fashion world, and in Paris I saw them everywhere. The Parisians definitely knew how to style a pair of sneakers. Not only did people wear them to complete the sporty chic look they were going for, but also for their more dressed up looks, or even just their casual every day looks. And I was in love. The fact that these shoes could cross so many different styles and be so versatile was amazing to me. You would literally see women on the street in the cutest dresses (complete with the perfect accessories) and on their feet would be a pair of Stan Smiths or Classic Superstar Adidas. I just knew that I needed a pair of classic Adidas in my closet. The problem though is that they wanted so much money for them in Europe, like they were crazy expensive. Gratefully, I was able to get them here in the states for a significantly lower price, and in the kids section (meaning that they were even cheaper).
