A Serious Case of the Mondays
Now I'm going to be incredibly real with you guys right now. My life is not the perfect, fabulous, mess of awesomeness you all think it is. I know shocker, I'm a regular human being with good days and bad days. And let me tell you, I have been having more bad days than good days this past month. It's been really really hard for me. Between friendships and school, and dating, it's all been a bit of a mess for me. So in all of this shenanigans happening in my life, it's hard for me to prevent my Monday emotions from affecting my everyday life.
But if you are anything like me and are trying to battle the constant anxieties and pressures that come with being human, well let me give you some pointers to battling your Mondays.
1. Start the day off right
There is no such-a-thing as waking up on the wrong side of the bed. You choose how you start off your day, so if you want to have a good attitude going into your day, then make it so. Start off by thanking God and being embedded in his word. When you wake up with the Lord, then you know that he and his word will be with you throughout the day. Now, this doesn't mean that everything will go well for you that day. You can't control other people and how they act, but you can choose how you are affected by it.
2. Wear something that makes you feel good
Look good feel good. Wear something that either gives you a boost of confidence or a sense of comfort. Basically, wear what you need to feel confident and prepared to take on the day ahead of you. If that's Nike shorts and oversized t-shirt (*shudders in pain as I type this*) then go for it.
3. Exercise healthy habits
These habits may differ for everyone, but basically, there are ways to get your mind off of the stressful, negative thoughts that can hit you at the beginning of the week. For me, I practice a lot of breathing exercises to tamp down my anxiousness, and I also do things like coloring apps and trying to avoid things that will trigger my anxiousness (like checking my grades on Canvas).
4. Listen to Music
Unless you're just not a music person (in that case, get out!) I highly suggest listening to music. It gives you a good way to channel your emotions via musical outlets. For me, if I'm just feeling in a particularly bad mood on Monday, I will always jam out to Beyoncé.
5. Treat Yo self
Mondays are hard (as is the rest of the week) so do something that will give you some good vibes to end your Mondays (or any day). After a long hard Monday, where things may not have gone as planned, I watch the Bachelor. Besides it being just straight up trash and mind-numbing television, it gets me out of my own head and feelings and just lets me laugh and enjoy stuff. Also I watch it and I'm just like wow, I could be on The Bachelor and that would make my life so much worse than it is now.
