Single & Slaying

Single & Slaying

Despite popular belief (or not so popular belief) I am super single...like hella single. Now don't feel bad for me, being single is not all that bad, actually it's the best... most of the time. So let me tell you some of the reasons why I choose to be single. (Because it is a choice...mostly...like 85% my choice).

1. I don't have time

Like for real, I do not have time for a relationship. Now this does not mean that I don't want to be in a relationship. I think it could be good, but I just physically don't have the time or the ability to put myself in a relationship. I'm tryin' to hustle and get my life together, and I just can't do that right now while being with someone else. If I can't manage 18 hours of class, 15 hours of work and multiple extracurriculars, what makes you think I can manage a boyfriend on top of all that?

2. I love alone time

Like I love being alone, intensely so. The fact that if I don't want to talk to anyone on the weekend, and that I can just hole myself up in my room, watching Netflix, and having my phone completely on silent, is so freaking freeing. Like don't talk to me, I'm 5 seasons deep in Scandal and loving it.

3. I only have to worry about me

Let's be clear, I still haven't found a way to not eat Chick-Fil-A for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and you think I'm able to look out for the well-being of another person? No Thanks. Like what do you even do with a boyfriend? Do I walk him? What time does he eat? I just can't. Let me worry about me and the fact that I have eaten girl scout cookies for breakfast three weeks straight.

4. I'm just really weird

To be honest, I am so freaking weird. I just haven't met someone to match my weirdness yet.

5. My standards

My standards are higher than the Eiffel Tower, and I do NOT plan on changing them anytime soon. Like I have things that are non-negotiable and I refuse to have anyone influence me or convince me otherwise! Plus Billy Coleman (my dad) already said that he has to be 6-foot...just, don't ask.

6. I don't know how to relationship

I really don't know how to relationship, and honestly I'm not ready to learn how to be in one yet. What I have learned about relationship-ing, is that it takes a lot of commitment to be in one. I'm currently not willing to have the time and commitment it takes to learn how to be in one.

7. Miscellaneous Reasons

Ya know the common stuff like, fear of committing at a young age, breaking-up in general, someone wanting to know the deepest parts of my soul,  anything physical, them possibly seeing me with no makeup and a hair bonnet on, meeting family members...the normal stuff.

So yes, i will be rockin' the single life yet again on this glorious valentines day, but if i'm being completely honest, I am not mad about it. Because even though i talk a lot of talk about wanting a boyfriend and blah blah blah...I don't want it. So from one single girl to another, slay your singleness and own it. you rock and you don't need a relationship to tell you that you do. wait it out, and in time the right guy will come around.
