A Girl's Gotta Eat

A Girl's Gotta Eat

IMG_2585.JPG

One of my favorite things to do on a trip is to find the best places to eat, or just see to find those uncommon places that not everyone goes to. It's not only a great way for you to get some delicious food, but it's also a great way for you to explore the city that you are in. We made no exception for L.A. as we found some awesome places to eat at. Some were popular spots and some a little less well known. So without further ado, here were some of my favorite spots to eat at in L.A.

Fratelli Cafe

7200 Melrose Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90046

First stop is Fratelli Café located on Melrose Ave. This place is super cool and a perfect place to grab some food, chill with some friends, or maybe even get some work done. The atmosphere is great and the staff is very friendly. On top of that, they have a brunch menu packed with some delicious items. For this stop we had the Mushroom Tartine and the Avocado Toast with their delicious fries. Both items were not only good but very affordable for those of you keeping to a strict budget. Also, I would just like to say that this was the most perfectly poached egg I've ever had in my life. So, if you're ever hittin' the shops on Melrose (which you should be) make sure to make a stop at Fratelli Café.

Knead & Co. Pasta Bar + Market

Knead is a delicious pasta pop-up within Grand Central Market, and though it may be a bit pricey, it's completely worth it. Their pasta is made fresh daily, and they do not skimp on portion sizes by any means. You're sure to be full and satisfied after you eat their delectable spaghetti and meatballs or one of their many other dishes here. And because of their prime location, you can just round the corner and grab some dessert after you've cured your pasta craving.

Next we have Wurstküche, originally seen on Buzzfeed's Worth It, is a sausage place that gives you a variety of flavors like you've never seen before. From traditional Louisiana hot links to vegetarian sausage to rattlesnake? This is definitely a destination for foodies. They also have an extensive collection of beers for you to pair with your sausage, so head over to one of their two locations, and chow down.

HomeState

Another find thanks to Buzzfeed's Worth It, this place is so freaking good! We could have eaten like 20 of their tacos, they are that amazing. HomeState should definetely be on you list of places to eat, if it's not already. They have a taco for everyone, from vegetarian options to your meat eaters, everyone can grab a taco and dip it into their delicious queso. Also they have really good Hibiscus Limeade, like really good, and very refreshing on a sunny L.A. day. Parking may be a little difficult to find, and seating is scarce, BUT this place is totally worth scouring a parking spot for. (Tip: if you go behind the building that HomeState is in, there is 2 hour parking.)

The Fat Dog is a find courtesy of our friend J.T. who took us here for dinner on one of our nights in L.A. The atmosphere is incredibly cool here, with an option to sit indoors or outside, it's the perfect place to come and chill after a long day. Though a little high in the price range, this is a great place to splurge. The food is amazing! (Try the pulled pork sandwich with the homemade chips) as are their drink choices. Also make sure you get dessert, because their bread pudding is to die for! (Tip: Try and make happy hour and take advantage of some $4 drinks and appetizers!)

The Waffle

6255 Sunset Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90028

Another food destination curtesy of J.T., The Waffle lives up to it's name of giving you a huge variety of waffles and sides for your enjoyment. From bacon waffles, to chocolate chip, to tres leches (like what?!) you can find a waffle to satisfy your cravings whether they be sweet or savory. And don't worry, if you don't want waffles, they have plenty of non-waffle options as well...but get the waffles. Also, they have double mimosas for $6! Yes, I said double. So go get some waffles, drink some mimosas, and enjoy some good convo.

Porto's Bakery

614 W Magnolia Blvd, Burbank, CA 91505

Insta:@portosbakery

Monday - Saturday: 6:30am - 8pm | Sunday: 7am - 7pm

Price: $

Finally, we come to Porto's, a California staple if their ever was one. If you're in L.A. and didn't go to Porto's, then did you really even go to L.A.? But in all seriousness, Porto's is the Go to place to satisfy your sweet tooth. With a variety of pastries and cakes of all types and flavors, you will defs find something you like, and if not then you can always get something else because they are So affordable. Also, if you aren't down for sweets, they also have a lunch menu as well, AND they have potato balls, which are the most delicious thing ever! I highly suggest the spicy potato balls. (Tip: Get the Horchata smoothie! Don't question me just get it!)

So yeah, L.A. was defs speakin' my language in terms of food on this trip, but I definetely didn't hit all the places I wanted to. so let me know what are some of your fave places to eat when you're in La La Land.
