Bolted + Brine: It's Not Just Art

Bolted + Brine: It's Not Just Art

The arts are coming to the Waco community in a big way, and it's time we recognized the positive impact it can have here (and basically everywhere else). This past weekend I had the honor of attending the Bolted+Brine pop-up event here in Waco, texas.

What Is Bolted + Brine?

Bolted + Brine is an organization dedicated to exposing the arts to the Waco community. They do this in order to prove that a passion for the arts can allow for there to be growth within a city, not only artistically but also economically. They now have pop-up events, like the one I attended on Friday, where singers, artists, and other participants in the visual and performing arts can come together and promote their crafts, while also raising awareness for the arts. It's an amazing organization that emphasizes something that is often overlooked.

Pop-Up!

The event was hosted in a warehouse in downtown Waco on Friday night, and let me tell you the space was completely transformed. I saw the before and the after, and there was a huge difference. Art pieces hung from the walls, and each section had it's own personality to it. In one corner there would be a fashion vendor, in another, an artisan doing live pottery demonstrations, and even multiple live music performances in another corner of the room. It all flowed incredibly well, and it just felt like such a cool environment to be in (honestly everyone was way cooler than me lol). Each event flowed right into the next without any big announcement or craziness about it. When a musical artist finished their set, the audience simply moved to surround Baylor Dance Company as they danced in the center floor and so on and so forth. It was pretty amazing.

This was exactly the kind of intro that was needed for the art world of Waco, something fun, carefree and inspiring. I came away from the event loving that I participated in such an event, and grateful that I was able to be a part of something like that. The event also did not only include native Waco artists; people came from Austin and Dallas, to join in the event. The participation of other cities just proved how much something like this is needed in our cities and communities. This isn't just art, this is a way of pushing innovation, growth, and community.

Through the pop-up event that Bolted+Brine had i think they were definitely able to make a point in sayng that the arts will be a part in moving a community forward. for more info about Bolted+Brine and the artists they featured at their event, visit their Facebook page or visit their Instagram. Hats off to Ashley Jepsen and the Bolted+Brine crew and participants for putting on an amazing event.
